A nation on Khar'shan. Hral used to have a fierce rivalry with the neighbouring nation of Bharthat, up until the Reaper War.

The Hrali caste system, unlike most of the rest of Khar’shan’s caste systems, was based on matrilineal descent. Hral also had a very, very rigid implementation of the caste system, with little opportunity for societal mobility. Bharthat had a patrilineal caste system, had much greater opportunities to move between castes, allowed intercaste marriage, and shared a very long border with Hral. Both countries also followed different religions that hated each other. Much of Bharthat was made up of monotheists who thought that any worship of other deities alongside theirs was heretical, while Hrali were polytheists, and Bharthat’s god had a secondary role in their pantheon.

Before the Hegemony unified Khar’shan, the two countries basically spent their entire history fighting each other. After unification, both nations kept trying to get the Hegemony to enforce their version of the caste system on their rivals, which it never did because it would have provoked massive riots and rebellions against Hegemony rule.

When the Reapers left every nation except Khaljah defunct, Khaljah's culture took over the entire planet before Hral could do anything about it. So now both Hral and Bharthat -- what was left of them -- set aside their differences, if only because they both really hated Khaljah now.
